The diary of two up and coming athletes (one with a far brighter athletic future than the other)

I run, or rather I plod. I have managed to increase my distance over the years to reach 10k. I used to sprint and you never lose that feeling of competitiveness when the gun shot marks the start. That’s where I go wrong. My distance used to be 100m and 200m. When the gun bangs you sprint for at the most 28 seconds and you can always see the finish line. When everyone reaches the final point in a 10k (the 400m sign) I am still thinking, OMG! That’s 4 x 100!
With my love of sprinting, I was delighted to hear that Box Legal sponsors Tom Guy a young up and coming athlete.
Tom Guy is a young man from the City of Stoke, currently studying at Haywood Engineering College in Burslem. He runs middle distance including 400 and 800m for English Schools and won gold in the 800m at the Aviva English Schools' Track and Field Championships this year.
Due to his past winning performances Tom was recently selected by Dame Kelly Holmes, Aviva Ambassador to attend a ‘Future Stars with Kelly’ mentoring session.
We have recently set up a blog for Tom and hope to raise general awareness of young athletes trying to improve with little or no support from the UK .
The blog aspires to encourage young people who have a natural athletic ability to continue pushing themselves to succeed. The aim of this blog is to help support Tom Guy in his quest to become an international athlete. Please feel free to add comments of support.
Both Daniel and Simon hope that their support gives a great boost to Tom Guy and his aspirations.
